About Arrow Timber Framing

Arrow Timber Framing has been building timber structures in the Pacific Northwest since 2002. Our founder started as a framing carpenter, took on one client who wanted a timber frame home, and taught himself the craft from the ground up. Today a team of fourteen designs, mills, and raises timber work across the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

We are growing, and we intend to keep growing. Bert has been the primary salesperson since the beginning, and the business has outgrown one person doing sales, design, and everything else. This is the company’s first dedicated sales hire, and it is the most important hire we will make.

Who we’re looking for

The ideal Sales Executive combines sales, construction, and design experience. Perhaps you are or were a general contractor, custom home builder, or lead carpenter who wants a different mix of work. You can read a set of plans and immediately see what is structural, what is decorative, what will be a problem in the field, and what will blow the budget.

“You do not need to be a timber framer. We can teach timber. We cannot teach construction judgment, design instinct, or the ability to earn a homeowner’s trust in the first twenty minutes.”

Compensation

  • $85,000 base salary

  • 0.5% of signed contract value, uncapped

  • Performance bonus to be determined

  • Health coverage incl. health-sharing and a direct clinic in Vancouver, WA

  • Paid vacation and holidays

  • A founder who will teach you timber framing from the inside

How we hire

  1. Phone call with Donna, Office & HR Manager

  2. Interview with Bert and our design team, plus a Kolbe A assessment

  3. A working session on a mock position scenario

  4. References, then an offer and a 30-60-90 plan

Twelve months in, you will…

  1. Own every incoming sales conversation from first call through signed agreement.

  2. Have raised our conversion rate from initial design conversation to signed project.

  3. Personally own a sales plan of signed projects for the year.

  4. Drive our sales process.

  5. Bring a network among architects, designers, custom builders, and land brokers across the Pacific Northwest.

  6. Be trusted to shape design direction on a project — not just sell it.

We hire against deliverables, not résumés.

What you’ll do

  • Convert inbound interest into scheduled meetings, design engagements, and signed projects.

  • Sell a premium product on its merits.

  • Earn the trust of homeowners, builders, and architects — each with different worries.

  • Keep a disciplined pipeline. Follow up relentlessly and warmly.

Sales

Client and design work

  • Run the first conversation with clients who find us through the website, YouTube, referrals — or by pulling off I-5 because they saw the shop.

  • Take an existing house design and show the client what it could become: roof lines, massing, which spaces earn the timber. This is the heart of the job.

  • Develop concepts with our team and present them so the client wants to build them.

  • Prepare estimates and proposals, and hold honest budget conversations early.

What you bring

  • 5+ years running residential construction as a GC, custom builder, lead carpenter, superintendent, or PM.

  • Fluency with plans and spec sheets, and working knowledge of loads, spans, and connections.

  • A demonstrable eye for elevations, proportion, and roof lines — not just floor plans.

  • Comfort sketching in front of a client; some fluency with CAD, SketchUp, Chief Architect, or similar.

  • A track record of consultative selling on long, high-consideration projects — running your own contracting business counts.

  • Comfort discussing money directly and without apology.

Helpful, not required: high-end custom residential, a CRM habit, timber frame / heavy timber / post-and-beam experience.
