About This Project:

When our clients approached us to design this outdoor pavilion, our primary goal was to create a structure that felt like a natural extension of the beautiful timber-frame home we had previously designed for them. As professional caterers, they required a space that was not only inviting but also exceptionally functional for hosting events year-round.

The design for The Hunter's Hearth is anchored by a large, central fire pit and its prominent custom copper flue. This feature presented a unique structural challenge. Our solution was to engineer a split ridge in the roof system, which allowed the flue to pass directly through the middle of the pavilion. The vaulted gable entries on each side are supported by a carefully crafted system of valley beams that is both inviting and dramatic.

To ensure the pavilion could be used in any season, one side is partially enclosed and fitted with large sliding barn doors. This provides shelter from the elements without sacrificing the open, airy feel of the space. Tucked along this wall is a well-appointed, professional-grade outdoor kitchen, built to withstand the demands of our clients' catering work.

We are proud of how it successfully merges complex timber engineering with the practical needs of our clients. The finished pavilion is a robust, hardworking space that offers a warm welcome and a striking architectural presence on the property.
