Chapter 4: Affluent Buyers

Dear Affluent Buyer,

Acquiring the luxury of Timber Living is something most people have to plan and save for. Creating living space to entertain, to enjoy, and to truly unwind, is as rewarding as it is fun.

Because you have relatively loose monetary constraints, your biggest challenge may be creating a timber atmosphere which truly has your signature and does not become boring or hum drum with the passage of time. You want something that reflects your true personality. A place that makes you smile. A place that always brings comfort and never becomes tiresome.

Your affluence could be a hindrance, in that the bulk of you planning may be left to paid consultants, architects, timber framer, etc. Which may or may not be a problem. Let me explain myself- I know you have a lot of demands and are very busy. I think it is wise to get help with you planning. Just keep these 2 factors in mind as you proceed to acquire your personalized timber living.

Factor #1) Be very picky when choosing or hiring people to help you create and share your home. Because you will be influenced by those you hire to a greater or lesser degree. The best way to assess the ability and compatibility of your service provider is to interview past clients, preferably in their home so you can get first hand inspection of atmosphere, quality, and style.

Here are some Good questions to ask yourself...if you don't know the answer, make sure to find out:

  • Does he/she listen and "see"...do they get what I am trying to convey?
  • Is he or she very possessive of their ideas? Are they willing to bend to accommodate you vision?
  • Are they able to elicit sense what you want, even if it is not stated?
  • Does past work indicate a high level of competence, artistry, and ability?
  • Is he or she courageous enough to say if they believe you are making a mistake?
  • Do you seem to connect, or hit it off? I hope we eventually get a chance to work together, even if we don't, please spend a little time thinking about these questions for your own sake because the price and pain of poor communication and incompetent craftsmanship is way too high. And it usually goes on for a while, before you realize that maybe person x cannot deliver what you want. Or worse yet, it happens when your project is well along the way... maybe even erected! Where as a good fit will make the process rewarding and fun and may even induce improvements of the fly, which are a real bonus.

Factor #2) Make sure to spend enough time and contribute enough so you help create the timber area you will call home. This is the best anecdote to becoming bored or craving change in the future. When you have had a significant impact on the outcome of your desired solarium, kitchen , entry, etc. , it becomes part of you. It becomes part of your story. You can get more tips as an Arrow Member about finding timbers, colors, and atmosphere that is truly a reflection of you.

What are some examples of projects and highlights other affluent members have found rewarding? Here are a few examples, but don't let this list limit your imagination, because unique requests and ideas which the idea brainstorming produces is an extreme source of joy for us.

So, including but not limited to...

Remodel and new construction

• Front Entries • Barn • Decks
• Kitchens • Entry Gates and Portals • Tables
• Great Rooms • Fences • Benches
• Outdoor Pavilions • Bridges • Kiosk
• 3 Season Living Pavilion • Stairways • And even a coffee bar!

So we can safely say, "The very most important thing is for you to have a system and support you need to brainstorm and illuminate the timber living possibilities which resonate deeply within you." To which, I can sincerely say that we would be thrilled to earn a place as part of your support team.
